The Office of the Director, Dr. Thomas Russell, invited ENIG President, Eric N. Enig, to participate in a roundtable discussion at the Army Science Planning and Strategy Meeting on Lethality and Protection being held on December 3-4, 2014 at the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) (Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD).
The purpose of this meeting is to engage in discussions to better define the implications of desired capabilities on science and technology (S&T) and vice versa. The more specific goal sought by Dr. Russell and his leadership team is to identify fundamental research issues that need to be addressed to enable future capabilities.
ENIG’s participation – only one of two commercial entities invited to the meeting – was sought to help the Army S&T community provide appropriate effects with minimal collateral damage while protecting US warfighters from harm. “This meeting will consider solutions that involve the physical, human, and virtual domains of conflict and consider the technology enablers that will allow the Army to maintain overmatch in 2035”, noted Enig.
